Budapest, with its castle dominating the skyline, has a stunning location on a bend of the River Danube. There is a great deal to see and do in this historic city. We advise all those who stay with us on what is on and where to go.

Within easy reach of the house are the following:


In Buda

The Castle District: the jewel of Buda, narrow cobbled streets, old houses, ancient church, museums and great views across to Pest on the far side of the Danube.

The Cable Car: from the Chainbridge this takes you up to the Castle District.

The Cogwheel Railway: climbs up into the hills in 16 minutes.

The Children´s Steam Railway: run largely by children, it starts in the hills with a magical run through the woods.

The Chairlift: runs up to Jánoshegy, at 520 metres , the highest peak in the city.

Normafa: A hill above Budapest for walks and panoramic views of the city and for skiing and tobogganing in the winter.

Szentendre: on the Danube, a beautifully preserved old town with traditional houses and cobbled streets.

Székesfehérvár: the ancient capital of Hungary.

Lake Balaton: 77 kilometres long, it is Central Europe´s largest lake. Perfect for a lazy day out swimming and boating.
